CHIO Aachen is one of the world’s most loved events. Come behind the scenes

If there is one thing equestrians around the world would probably agree on, it is this; that CHIO Aachen is the pinnacle of horse shows and on every rider’s bucket list, whether it’s competing or visiting.

CHIO is short for Concours Hippique International Officiel. The organisers like to call it the World Equestrian Festival, others call it the Wimbledon of horse sport. Generally only superlatives are used when describing the event - colourful, gigantic, world-class, incomparable, emotional, breath-taking, captivating… the list goes on.

“Aachen is Aachen”, highly successful show jumper Meredith Michaels Beerbaum is on the record for saying and she speaks for millions of people around the world. Just mention ‘Aachen’ and anyone in the equine industry will know what you mean. Aachen is a trademark, a brand, a hallmark event.

Where else in the world can you watch elite riders compete in top level jumping, dressage, vaulting, driving and eventing at the same time?
